After a 36-months trial of online lottery ticket sales in the state of Illinois, proved to be a major success, Rep. Ed Sullivan wants to make it permanent. He submitted a bill, HB 3870, in an attempt to achieve just that. This measure has been seen as premature because of the 48 month window set by the state Legislature as a trial period, but with the RAWA on the table in Congress, state politicians will likely be supportive. This will protect the state's position should Congress approve the Restoration of the American Wire Act, which can consequently ban online lottery action across the nation.
