Las Vegas is Open for Business Once Again!

Get ready for the dazzling lights, the card-dealing, the slots spinning and the jackpots dropping once again as Las Vegas announces it is reopening for business! The casino closure is ending from Thursday in Las Vegas and Nevada with hotel casinos in the suburban Sin City penned to be among the first to open their doors.

Doors are expected to open at 1-minute past midnight on Thursday with a schedule which goes a bit like this; the restarting of the Bellagio fountain later in the morning which will then lead to neighbouring resorts on the Las Vegas Strip opening up for business too!

The gambling capital of the world is opening once again, and Gaming Control Board chief Sandra Douglass Morgan was eager to express how normality may now be savoured once again: “I’m optimistic that customers will see that gaming properties invested time and effort to welcome them back to a safe and entertaining environment.”

It’s Been a Long Time Coming

The regulatory body required detailed health and safety information from all casinos last week before they were even considered for the reopening. Alan Feldman thinks this will be the new norm for quite some time; “This is going to be a pretty long, slow climb. I’m hopeful it is a consistent climb, without setbacks!”

It’s safe to say he knows more than just a thing or two about how to recover, what with being at MGM Resorts at the time of the 2011 terror attacks, which instantly led to an air-travel ban and later, the great recession followed and this too led to a crippling plunge in business.

Not all casino resorts will open just yet. The biggest casino operators; MGM Resorts and Caesars Entrainment want to see just how many turn up, if demand is great, then they will revaluate. Residents from the area are expected to be the first to arrive, followed by motorists from nearby US states and then air travellers.

UBS analyst Robin Farley said: “The market still relies heavily on air traffic, and the longer stays in Vegas are usually tied to mass social gatherings, including conventions, concerts and fights, all of which may take longer to recover.”

MGM Resorts International chief executive Bill Hornbuckle added: “It may be a little different. But I think it will be memorable, personable and special.”
