Lucky Teen Lands £240K Win on Scratchcard but Isn’t Celebrating… Yet!

An 18-year old from Burslem in Stoke-on-Trent recently discovered he won a life-changing sum of money from just a £2 scratchcard! The lucky teen known as Kyle Burke, a JD Sports worker, decide to buy a scratchcard from his corner shop at the end of March and low and behold, he only went and won £240K!

The prize was advertised as £20K a month for a whole year but he and his family are not celebrating just yet. Celebrations have been put on hold until they see friends and family, and rightly so.

The surprising win didn’t really sink in until The National Lottery sent him a digital cheque worth £240,000. Kyle said: “The guys at The National Lottery have sent me a digital big cheque and have promised to send me the usual big one plus a bottle of champagne as soon as it is safe to.

I’ve currently got a provisional driving licence so when I pass my test, I will get a car. All I can do at the moment is look at my banking app to see what my increasing balance is, which is just mad. I popped to the local shop for a few bits and bobs and decided to have a go on a scratchcard. The thought of winning every month more than I earn in a year sounded too good an opportunity to miss."

Mystery No More

In other Lottery news, one lucky ticket holder managed to scoop £10,848,734 on the main Lotto draw on May 16th, but rumours were circulating after the prize went unclaimed. Has another winner found themselves in a horrible situation where they’ve lost their ticket?

A few days ago, Camelot confirmed that the single winner of more than £10.8million has come forward to claim the colossal win. Camelot’s Andy Carter, Senior Winners’ Advisor at The National Lottery said, "We’re delighted that the winner of this amazing prize has come forward and we hope that they will enjoy their win.”

But what if you have a winning lottery ticket or scratchcard from a retailer, can you claim that prize? Here’s what Andy had to say:

“In the current situation we’re encouraging everyone to check their tickets online via The National Lottery website or via The National Lottery App, and to only buy their tickets in retail or claim a retail prize if they are already in-store to do an essential shop. You can scan your retail draw-based game tickets on the National Lottery app to see if you’ve won a prize."

The winning Lotto numbers on May 16th were: 4, 20, 21, 44, 48 and 52.
