Quickspin Goes Dark with Upcoming Nero’s Fortune Slot Title

Quickspin are taking players back to 64 AD in their darkest slot to date – Nero’s Fortune, where high volatility reel mechanics, 3D graphics and immersive features could deliver wins of up to 8500x your stake. Set for release on April 14th, the 5x5 slot based on the Great Fire of Rome boasts tumble mechanics (cascading symbols), cluster wins, accumulating multipliers and bonus spins!

The award-winning software provider are tapping into virgin territory with The Great Fire of Rome, as this is a theme that no other slot developing company has created before. The urban fire occurred in July 64 AD, engulfing merchant shops around Rome’s chariot stadium, Circus Maximus.

After six days of uncontrollable blazing, the fire was eventually brought to a stop, or at least that’s what the brave firefighters thought. Before the damage could be assessed, the fire reignited and burned for another three days, and it is documented that two thirds of Rome was destroyed in that fire and according Emperor Nero, the devastation was linked to the Christian community in the city, and this lead to the empire’s first persecution against the Christians.

Inspiration for the Game

Clint Andersson, Producer at Quickspin said: “We’ve listened to our players and we wanted to satisfy their – and our own – hunger for innovation and volatile game play. That’s why we’ve created Nero’s Fortune with a set of completely new tools, to design a game that presents 3D graphics in a fresh way, whilst at the same time being a cluster game that focuses more on bigger wins (rather than lots of small ones).”

Basically, wins will be few and far between, and this means longer periods between big wins. You’ll also find bonuses in the shape of multipliers and bonus spins – two thing I love! And, the best bit is, during your free games, the multiplier will increase, so it’s very much like playing one of those thrilling Megaways slots, only without the 117,649 ways to win.

Anderson continued: “We’ve created a game that ties the gameplay together with the overall mood and feeling, so you can really feel how the reels begin to tremble and tear apart as you start hitting it big. This fits well with the story, as this game is set in ancient Rome under the rule of Emperor Nero.

According to history, Emperor Nero was finally overthrown after the ‘Great Fire of Rome’. So, we wanted to give players exactly that – a feeling of victory after defeating the game with all the heavy-hitting wins.

We’re confident that players will love our new volatile gameplay and 3D-rendered graphics. It’s the darkest theme we’ve ever used, and we’ve also added lots of new details to give our players the most immersive and satisfying experience possible – no matter which platform or market they might use.”

Oh, You Tease!

We’ve the talented FX Artist Lucas Johansson to thank for the impressive graphics, which will take players to a whole new gaming level. Seeing is believing and you won’t have long to wait to play the new casino game, but until then, here’s a little insight into what to expect by none other than the man behind the art:

“When we started working on Nero’s Fortune, we wanted to go for a more serious theme. Our Lead Artist, Tom, went ahead and explored lots of different ideas from ancient Rome. The ‘Great Fire of Rome’ was a story that we felt would fit this volatile game really well. So, my job was to create a lot of fire!”
