Woman Wins £250K on a £1 Bet on the Bingo - Find Out How She Did It Here

A lucky woman who was turned down for a mortgage just last week now has the means to buy her dream home outright, thanks to a fabulous win on the bingo. Samantha McKay, 32, logged onto a bingo site for the first time in more than a year when she landed her life-changing win.

Trying her luck, she placed three bets, the first cost her just £1. The mum-of-two was elated when she realised she had just landed a huge win of £50K. With her big win sitting in her bingo bankroll, Samantha tried her luck again; a £1 bet followed by a high roller bet of £200…

…the biggest bet she ever made and thanks to that increase, she landed another huge win, only this time £150K more than the last! All it took was three bets to win £250K – how lucky is that?

Over the last 11-years, Samantha and her partner Damien, 48, had saved £18K to put towards a new home, but now they wouldn’t need to worry about a mortgage, what with a life-changing win sitting in her bank.

Explain All!

The winnings were used to buy a property outright and before heading back to work in the barber shop she owns, she treated her mother to a holiday caravan. The self-employed hairdresser from Porthcawl (Wales) said:

“When I saw the amount flash up on the screen I nearly died – I couldn’t believe it. My husband and I have been saving for nearly 11 years and we were even competing to see who could save the most each month. When I sat him down and told him I’d been playing online bingo, I think he thought I’d blown our savings.”

Samantha continued: “Then I told him I'd won; he was in absolute shock when I said it was £250,000. It was perfect timing for us after the mortgage we applied for was rejected. We also got brand new furniture and I treated myself to the most expensive bedding I could find. It still doesn’t feel real that we own our house – it’s more than we could have dreamed."

Take a Break

The lucky bingo player would regularly play online bingo in 2018, placing £1 bets at a time, but she decided to close her account and have a ‘cool-off period,’ because she felt she wasn’t winning. It’s important to stay in control of your gambling. If you feel you need a break like Samantha did, use the player settings within your bingo account to take a break.

Over a year later, she decided to try her luck again after receiving promotional material. Talking to the press, Samantha reveals how she won:

“I used to play on the site quite regularly but never won anything like this. I would place £1 bets, but I was quite shocked when I checked my online banking and saw how much I’d been spending. One day about a year later, I was at home having a pyjama day on my day off when the site sent me an email about reactivating my account. I thought why not have a couple of bets for fun to see what happens.”

Gushing with enthusiasm, she revealed how she broke the news to her partner: “I kept it to myself all day until I found the right time to tell him. We usually have a weekly takeaway with Lara (Damien’s daughter) and I didn’t say a word all night. After they left Damien asked me what was wrong because I was so quiet…

…I sat him down and told him about bingo and he started panicking that I’d lost our savings. When I said how much, he misheard and thought I’d said £1,000. He nearly fell off the sofa when I said it was £250,000.”

After winning, Samantha decided not to return to the online bingo site, just in case her luck has dried up.
