Bride-To-Be Wins £1M On Lucky Dip Week Before Wedding

Wedding Bells and An Unbelievable Tale of Luck

Lady luck has a habit of springing up when you least expect it, or so I’m told. Just when you think all your luck has dried up – BAM! She flies on in and turns that frown upside down! Like many of you out there, we’d all love to win the lottery, but not everyone can win!

Housewife Christine Jane (nee Buckton) 50, and now husband delivery driver Nick, 55, struck gold recently after deciding to purchase a lottery lucky dip from their local Spa. With their wedding a week away, they hoped even the smallest of wins would make the day go without a hiccup. Little did they know they were about to win a million pounds!

Got To Be In It To Win It

On Saturday 15th October, Nick told Christine that one of his work colleagues had suggested he purchase a lottery ticket. They did. A single line of numbers via a lucky dip ticket was about to change their lives forever when matching all five main number drawn and that bonus ball!

Christine explained: “We hadn’t played The National Lottery in a fair few months before our win but, for some reason one of Nick’s work colleagues told him that we should buy a Lotto ticket that weekend. We got ourselves a Lucky Dip and here we are with a £1,000,000 win - a very generous wedding gift of sorts!”

There are two ways to play the lottery, one via retailer and the other online (computer or app). The best way to play is via mobile because a) there’s no chance of you losing your winning ticket and b) winning alerts are sent automatically, so when you win a big prize, you’ll be told! Reliving how she discovered her win, Christine said: “It was the Sunday morning – the day after the Lotto draw – that I checked the winning numbers on my phone. I knew we had won something but didn’t register what so I woke my stepson up to check.”

Christine did what any of us would do in that situation, she headed off to her local shop to get her ticket verified. Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I took the ticket to the local Spa to get them to run it through the National Lottery terminal and when the man behind the counter said, ‘Oh my God, you’ve won the lottery!’. I immediately said, ‘can I have my winnings now?’ He replied, ‘No, it’s too much for us to pay out, it’s £100,000! You’ll have to phone Camelot!’”

News of the dazzling winspread like soft butter on hot toast, and scores of relatives turned up to congratulate the happy, soon-to-be husband and wife couple…

…however, Nick had no idea on his new found fortune until he arrived home to so many people in his home!

Christine said, “We were all waiting for Nick to get home to tell him, rather than phoning him with this kind of news whilst he was driving! When he came in the door one of our daughters said, ‘Dad, what would you do with £1,000,000?’ Nick obviously didn’t register the excitement and giggling because, rather than asking why he just said, ‘I don’t know?’. His face was a picture of confusion, shock and happiness as he was told, ‘well, you’re just won £1,000,000!’”
