Britain’s Got Talent is back on our screens and already causing controversy. Viewers tuned in to see an ‘unsuspecting’ audience member turn to his wife while uttering the words “that’s mum and the kids” as an elderly woman and two young children stood before the panel of judges. The woman told the judges her son, Nick Edwards, was too shy to sing but had a talent. He was instantly hauled before the judges before blasting out his own rendition of a lullaby while playing the guitar.

So? What’s wrong with that? Eagled-eyed viewers (including myself), noticed Nick had a microphone attached to his shirt when the camera “surprised” him in the audience. ITV have responded to claims of it being a set-up as “nonsense,” but nobody else in that audience (3,999 people!) was wearing a microphone.

Scandal number two. Singer Loren Allred was treated to the golden buzzer by Amanda Holden but viewers have slammed the judge and the show for being unfair. What nobody knew at the time was Loren is in fact a professional singer and was hired to sing in the global hit movie The Greatest Showman. Britain’s Got Talent is most certainly back with a bang – if it wasn’t in the headlines it wouldn’t be the same show!
