How a ‘Bump’ Resulted in a $10Million Win
A woman from “the land of milk and honey” has hit the global headlines after an incident in a shopping mall that we can all resonate to. LaQuedra Edwards was stood minding her own business at a California Lottery Scratchers vending machine (lottery terminal) when a “rude person” bumped into her. The stranger had inadvertently altered one of the picks Edwards was about to make and it wasn’t long before shockwaves were sent rippling through the state!
In November, Edwards was selecting her numbers when the unidentified rude man bumped into her with no apology, causing her to select a number she didn’t mean to. The machine then produced a $30 200x scratchers ticket. Those of you who don’t know what a scratchers ticket is, it’s just an instant win or a scratchcard that players can choose themselves from an automated machine. Here in the UK we have retailers who give us what we ask for from a selection already available.
The Kindness of a Stranger
“He just bumped into me, didn’t say a thing and just walked out the door,” said Edwards, according to the California Lottery. The bump really irked Edwards because it resulted in 75% of her lottery budget going on just the one scratch card game. She had planned to play it safe by spreading her cash further with many lower-priced games for the best chance to win, but the rude man put a stop to that.
Heading to the car with fewer scratchcards than she had planned, Edwards decided to scratch them there and then and low and behold, her $30 ticket was a winner! Thanks to the ignorant man Edwards had landed the top prize of $10million! Naturally, she didn’t believe it at first and decided to drive home. On route, she almost had an accident when it finally dawned on her that she was now a multi-millionaire!
“I didn’t really believe it at first, but I got on the 405 Freeway and kept looking down at (the ticket) and I almost crashed my car,” revealed Edwards. “I pulled over, looked at it again and again, scanned it with my (California Lottery mobile) app and I just kept thinking, This can’t be right. I’m still in shock. All I remember saying once I found out how much I just won was, “I’m rich!”
Edwards plans to buy a house and start a non-profit organization thanks to the kindness of a rude stranger…
…the retailer where she purchased the scratchers ticket, Vonz, was awarded $50K for selling the winning ticket. How extremely lucky! There’s nothing worse than rude people, but it’s so lovely to see this story has a happy ending and Edwards win will go on to help other people too.

How insane was that! I would’ve chased down the man and given him a good telling off. I really cannot abide rude people.
