Getting Rid of Those Evil Bingo Visitors
The UK’s largest bingo operator has revealed one of its bingo halls to be the ‘most haunted’ in Britain, a claim made just in time for the spooky season. In a (conveniently timed) press release, Buzz Bingo claims to have sent in the renowned paranormal investigator and TV ghost hunter Barri Ghai, to rid the building of evil spirits. Why they didn’t just do a happy hour on vodka sales I’ll never know!
There’s nothing like a bit of free publicity and interest to get those bingo players in, and usually operators come up with a creative bingo promotion to boost sales, but instead Buzz have gone above and beyond that with this latest stunt! Things that go bump in the night have always fascinated me and I have come across a few unexplained experiences in my lifetime. From televisions turning themselves on when the plug was out to the dogs staring and barking at random times of the day and night, there’s certainly a lot going on that we the living cannot explain.
Frightfully Good Way to Get Players
Buzz Bingo are believers, especially the staff in the Tooting branch in London. General manager Jeevah called for help when several staff members and players started to report spooky encounters, but not recently. The gothic-style bingo hall gives visitors an unsettling feeling when entering, or so they say, but here’s where I get a little sceptical…not only were these ‘instances’ reported years ago, but the timing of this paranormal cleansing has also come right before Halloween.
A few years ago, I investigated the most haunted bingo halls, and not one of them was the Tooting branch of Buzz Bingo! The most frightening bingo venues are documented in history with more than just a ‘feeling’ something isn’t right, and we’re talking chairs being thrown across rooms and much more!
In a survey carried out by the UK bingo group…
…45% of brits claim to have a connection with the (f)un-dead. A further 36% have claimed to have seen a ghost, 23% have witnessed objects moving around and 20% insist they hear footsteps when nobody else is in the house. Are bingo halls really haunted or are we seeing things that are simply not there? The reason why bingo halls are known for their haunting tendencies is not because of superstitions, but because most buildings date back centuries and were often used to house criminals and some were even used to incarcerate the insane.
The building was erected in 1931 and according to Jeevah when questioned by the media, (they’ve) “never had any problems with the spirits believed to occupy the building.” I hate to be the one to remind you Jeevah, but you previously said staff and visitors had experienced the unexplainable, according to you it was bingo hell!
Commenting on the investigation, Barri said: “The building has a lot of history. My investigation started in the hall of mirrors and within a few minutes I was able to detect some activity. I was able to connect with two separate entities, potentially a male and a female spirit who spoke with me through my equipment.” They probably wanted a pie and chips and 18 tickets to the next session mate!

Not sure if I believe in ghosts but there are unexplained things that happen all the time, and not just to me, but in general. I agree this was just a publicity stunt.
