PayPal Roll Out Gambling Block Option for UK and US Customers

Putting the Customer in Total Control

PayPal is without a doubt one of the most popular ways to fund online bingo and casino transactions, as it caters for faster withdrawals. The payment service provider is simple and free to use and allows its users to hide their payment details from the operator. The e-wallet service stores all payment details on its secure server until a transaction is authorized. No card details are shared with the operator, giving the customer an extra layer of security.

Up until recently, PayPal was the only payment service offering withdrawal turn arounds of up to 24-hours, with most cash out requests being handled within a few minutes to a few hours. Many online gambling establishments have improved their cashier and this has led to Visa Debit customers benefiting from that same fast cash out process.

Three-Years in the Making

Gambling is a game of chance and there are no guarantees. It should be fun, but for many, the urge to gamble can take over their life, which is why there are organizations out there that can help. There are measures players can take to keep gambling fun, including the implementing of deposit and stake limits, session reminders and self-exclusion for those who want to take a break.

The downside to self-exclusion is that it only applies to the one site or sites on that particular network…

…which means you could have this rule set in place for one site but then you are free to gamble on any of the hundreds of others websites. PayPal understand this which is why they have introduced Gamban’s gambling blocking software to its platform, to give both UK and US players the ability to stop all gambling transactions online.

Styled similar to what the debit card already offers, players have the ability to ‘switch off’ gambling transactions such as playing casino games online bingo, live casino and other games of chance. Customers also have the ability to block certain websites including those offering tips, intermediaries who place bets and forums placing bets via a person-to-person facility. PayPal reviewed their payment rules and controls back in 2019 and three-years later, here we are with the ability to block out certain transactions should we wish to do so.

Gambling blocking platform Gamban said: “PayPal offering its users the option to block gambling transactions is a welcome addition to the gambling recovery toolkit. Between blocking gambling transactions at your bank and PayPal, blocking online gambling with Gamban, self-excluding yourself with Gamstop and seeking support from GamCare you’ll give yourself the best chance at recovery.”
